May is Asian Heritage Month (AHM). The Japanese community (KJLS) is also participating. Please join us as there are many events lined up.
- May 4th, 2-4 PM @ Rotary Center for the Arts AHM Opening Forum: Free admission Topic: Youth view about Canadian multiculturalism. We are interested in how young people feel about multiculturalism in Canada. Refreshments will be served. Would you like to join us?
- Every Sunday in May, 12-4 PM @ Kelowna Art Gallery Family Sundays: Enjoy crafts from various countries. On the 12th, the Japanese community will host an origami Mother’s Day bouquet workshop ($5 fee).
- May 14-17, 6-7 PM @ Downtown Library AHM Movie Week: Watch Asian movies in person. There will be a brief discussion on the final day, the 17th.
- May 25th, 6-9 PM @ Parkinson Recreation Center AHM Showcase: Free entry. Enjoy food and craft booths from various countries with your family. KJLS’s Awa Odori group “Suiryu-ren” will also perform! There will be an origami booth at the singing and storytelling session. From KJLS, we will serve gyudon, karaage, sweets, and juice (food items are for sale). We look forward to trying cuisines from other countries too. Please come and join us!
