Sui Ryu Ren
Program Overview
Sui Ryu Ren was originally established with the aim of sharing the joy of Japanese culture through the traditional dance of Awa Odori.
Originating about 400 years ago in Tokushima Prefecture on Shikoku Island, Awa Odori has since spread across Japan and is enjoyed during summer festivals and other events. This lively bon dance (folk dance), characterized by its distinctive two-beat rhythm, makes everyone want to join in and dance along. As the saying goes, “Dancing fools and watching fools, if you’re going to be a fool, you might as well dance!”
Additionally, Awa Odori is known to be beneficial for beauty and health due to its use of core muscles.
We are currently looking for children and adults who are interested in enjoying Awa Odori (dance and music band) with us. People of all nationalities are welcome! No prior experience is necessary, so if you’re enthusiastic and eager to participate, we warmly welcome you to join us.
The classes are conducted in both Japanese and English. Whether you prefer English, Japanese, or both, you can enjoy participating comfortably.
